This is just a short notice if there is a new version of the Real Capital Ships mod for Sins of a Solar Empire

I have a problem converting some blueprints form Binary into text format. I was able to convert them on my PC at home, but for some reason not on my notebook(Always get a error using DK - SoaSE Mod Tool GUI wich worked fine so far). The only difference is that my Entrenchment at home ist still 1.02, and the verstion on my notebook is 1.03. Did it come with new convert-data-exe`s ? If yes, is there a way to get the old ones?

Hi there Grottenolm85, I'm the creater of DK - SoaSE Mod Tool GUI;

 

Would it be possible for you to post a screenshot or the exact text of the error given when you try the program on your laptop? Without further detail it's difficult for me to pinpoint the issue.

From my understanding any versions of the convert-data executables should work with this

 

I will install SoaSE and Entrenchment today and test it out on my end, but if possible get back to me with the above information

Actually, taken from a post by Harpo99999 (Thanks):

"there is a change that effects entitys between entrenchment 1.02 & 1.03 the adding of a rendersheilds true after the shieldsmesh line in all entity's ships planets,planet modules and starbases.

I know as I am writing a utility to update mods for this exact reason. and some mods are not updating properly as the do not decompress properly with the convertdata_entrenchment for entrenchment mods or the convertdata_originalsins for vanilla mods"

 

This might perhaps be the reason, is the file you're trying to convert to TXT from 1.02? I didn't understand the quote fully but I believe that's the gist of the problem perhaps

I know that not your GUI was the problem. I used the cmd-line and it still did not work.

But now it worked with the old convertdata file a friend sent me.

I just returned to modding after taking a break (and breaking my machine) and I can confirm that ConvertData_Entrenchment included with ForgeTools does not work on various entities (such as ships and planets) using 1.03 Entrenchment data.

It always creates a standard "has encountered a problem and needs to close." error on these files.

Bugger.

You can either use Harpo's utility https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/353296 or Danman's modtools pack, I think the converter in that one is updated to the newest version, though I am not sure.

actually the gui that I released to danman is the 1.0 version. the 1.1 (waiting on permission to distribute with the convertdata*.exe's from older sins versions) DOES correctly update all the mods INCLUDING 7DS alpha BUT ONLY works with the sins versions that I have a BIdirectional convertdata for.

the problem with the convertdata's is that EACH VERSION encodes/decodes the bin differently and CAN LOCKUP or FAIL the conversion with binned files created with a different version (i think that the differences in conversion is due to the changes in sins code).

back to the version 1.0 mod updater, it works PERFECTLY with all mods that are in TXT mode, the problems happen with the BIN mode files.
